You want your life to have meaning and purpose. It’s only natural.

Yet when you woke up this morning you felt just as stuck as you did yesterday.

You want to do something that helps others or provides greater meaning for your life.

Yet you’re unsure of exactly what that might look like.

You can’t help but feel a little envious as you watch others race past you toward their purpose.

If you’re honest, you’ve begun to feel a little hopeless and started to wonder if you’ll ever reach your goals or find what it is that you’re supposed to do.

But instead of working on building your success you choose to stay busy and try and forget your discontent. You work on the things you know you can and stuff down the disappointment for another day.

If any of this sounds familiar, let me simply share that I understand.

I know how hard it can be when you feel like your path to success is paved with boulders and you don’t know the first step to take.

It feels overwhelming.

And no matter how much you don’t want to compare yourself to others, you look at your friends or family and wonder why you just can’t break free.

When you feel this way, it’s tempting to believe that you’re all alone. Or that it’s somehow embarrassing because you can’t seem to figure it out and get to where you want.

But the truth is that you’re not alone. Everyone feels like this at some point or another and no matter what you believe, you can get past your obstacles and find greater joy, happiness and purpose for your life.

Take Jenn for example.

When she came to me, she was nearing 40 and had recently found out that her husband had decided to leave the marriage without any real reason or warning.

Angry, confused and overwhelmed, she didn’t know what to do.

But what was clear was the fact that her divorce had woken her up to the fact that for years she had neglected her own needs – and her own purpose.

She had put her husband and kids ahead of herself for years and, when he left her she was faced with the harsh reality of her personal neglect.

And while serving their needs was fulfilling at the time – she now sat on the doorstep of a new life and didn’t know what she could do.

She felt stuck, insecure and unable to take the first step.

Yet, at the same time, she felt hopeful. She told me that for years she had a desire to do something that could help other people on their journey but, because she had devoted all her time to her family’s needs, she felt she couldn’t.

When we began working together, Jenn and I began to uncover the reasons she felt stuck and discussed how she could move forward to make a different life.

Like so many others, Jenn recognized that her reasons for feeling stuck and always feeling like she was “behind” everyone else is that she had been taught that tending to her own needs was selfish.

She had been raised in a culture where it was common for women to put family and her husband first and although she worked hard to be independent in her youth – she found herself caught in the same patterns created by her mother and her grandmother.

Jenn was taught that in order to be useful or validated, she had to be the glue for her family. And if that meant sacrificing her needs – so be it.

The problem with that is that Jenn’s soul never signed that same agreement.

Inside, she never agreed to settle for a life that didn’t put her first or allow her to find success – which is why she always felt unsettled and incomplete.

It was only when she began to dig a little deeper that she realized that no matter what she had tried up until now, she couldn’t find the success she wanted until she shifted her beliefs and actually learned to make her needs a priority.

Through commitment and hard work, Jenn began to rebuild her life.

She learned to stop making demands of herself when she felt stuck and instead learned to listen more to what she needed.

Jenn understood that the process of transformation wasn’t going to be overnight, and that it would require continuously being willing to uncover her deep wounds.

But, little by little she learned to set realistic goals, she allowed herself to get to know what she really loved and she learned to let go of the beliefs that she wasn’t deserving of success.

You see, the truth is that the thing that holds us back the most are our limiting beliefs that we don’t deserve to have the kind of life we imagine.

We stay stuck in believing that only others deserve the best and that we must settle for scraps.

Only when you learn to shift those deep inner commitments away from disappointment, comparison and being second best and toward the commitments of confidence, courage and truth, can you achieve the goals you want.

So, when it comes to you, if you’re feeling stuck or desperate for your life to change – let me share something incredibly important, you don’t have to do it alone.

Instead of hoping things will get better, what might it look like to deeply commit to your own personal transformation?

What would it take to say yes, I’m finally worth the success I want instead of always looking at my friends, my sister or my co-workers and wishing that was me.

The truth is, the voice inside of you that wakes up at 3:00 in the morning, knowing that there must be more, is ready. And it’s tired of doing it alone.

I know because once upon a time that was me.

I thought that because I was surrounded by some of the greatest thought leaders of our time as the Hay House Event Director that it was enough for me to hear their talks or read their latest books.

I thought that because I was surrounded by their words all the time that somehow I was advanced.

But in reality, I was as stuck as you are right now.

And it wasn’t until my dear friend, the late Debbie Ford, took me by the hand and enrolled me in her life coach training program that I realized how much my soul was calling for something more.

Although I never intended on becoming a coach, the realization that I didn’t have to shift my beliefs by myself and that someone could guide me step-by-step through the minefield of my fears and doubts, was the biggest blessing of my life.

That’s the way that it was for Jenn too.

After spending time coaching with me, she decided it was time to fulfill her desire and become a coach. Once she had reached the other side of her pain, she realized she could become a guide for others.

Today she’s practicing as a coach and an energy healer – she’s also signed up to become a Levin Life Coach Academy certified coach so she can offer her clients more ways to discover their own personal transformation.

I don’t say any of this lightly,  but I do say it to share with you what becomes possible when you stop waiting for success to show up and take control.

Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing more about how you can guide yourself to greater personal success on my Hay House Radio Show. I hope you’ll take the time to listen and ask questions to help you on your own personal journey.
